Govt Invests Greatly in Infrastructures
Angola has been investing greatly in infrastructures as a result of its management of natural resources, with a view to securing sustainable development of its economy, Angolan MP Salomão Xirimbimbi, has recently said in Gaborone, Botswana, during the 12th regional meeting of the ACP-EU.
Speaking during the discussion of the topic "Management of Natural Resources", the ruling MPLA party's MP - who led the Angolan delegation that participated in the Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific plus the European Union (ACP-EU) -said that the Angolan government has created an investment programme that has absorbed billions of dollars from the State's General Budget.Salomão Xirimbimbi stressed that in the energetic domain, several hydroelectric dams have been built and others repaired by the Angolan government.
He revealed that the programme of the government outlines the goal of reaching a total production of 7000 megawatts of power, which will six times more than the current electricity production level.

Salomão Xirimbimbi also highlighted the investments in the aviation domain, such as the construction of a new airport in the eastern part of the country, construction and rehabilitation of ports and roads, as well as the improvement of the water supply network.
The Angolan delegation comprised also the MPs Julião Teixeira (MPLA) and Adalberto da Costa Júnior (UNITA).
The event also debated the topics "Regional Integration and Co-operation", "Agriculture and food Security in the Region", "Logistics and Energetic Needs", and "Gender Violence".
The gathering aimed at combining ideas that will be taken to the Plenary Session of the ACP/EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled for next June in Windhoek, Namibia.
The Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) is an organisation made up of 78 representatives from each region, namely European Union (EU), Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific, as signatories of the Cotonou Agreement.
The JPA is the only institution of its kind in the world, where elected representatives of various countries sit together regularly with the aim of promoting the cooperation of North and South.
